Sustainable Giving Programs
The Gifford Pinchot Task Force relies heavily upon our membership for financial support. For 2011, we project that 50% of our income will come from individuals and families. All of these donors are vital to our successes, and those that choose to support us with ongoing monthly donations are especially appreciated. Because of these factors, we are pleased to announce some improvements to our monthly giving program. Our longstanding Forest Guardians program will continue for those donors that choose to give less than $20 per month. We have members in this program that go back almost a decade and we would never have made it to this point without them. All members who choose to donate at least $20 per month will move to our new Partners in Conservation program.
Monthly giving through automatic payments from a checking account electronic funds transfer or from a Visa or MasterCard is the most convenient and effective way to support the Task Force. Monthly donors allow us to more accurately forecast our budget, plan for growth and expansion of our program initiatives, and fund important projects (like our renewed campaign to stop mining near the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument) that fall outside the areas supported by foundations and the grants they provide us. Forest Guardian and Partners in Conservation members commit to a planned, budgeted investment in the Gifford Pinchot Task Force that also empowers us to engage in, with your partnership, programs that will demand time, effort and energy for several months or in some cases, years (such as our ongoing Volcano Country Wild Rivers Campaign).
Paul Seif, our Sustainable Giving Coordinator, has already begun reaching out to our members to assist them in taking advantage of the new benefits and making a commitment to the best possible type of support to the biological diversity and communities of the Northwest through conservation and restoration of forests, rivers, fish, and wildlife. If you would like to get started as a Partner in Conservation or as a Forest Guardian you can contact Paul at paul@gptaskforce.org or 503-221-2102 ext 105. If he’s not available, our Membership Coordinator Andy Prahl would also be happy to assist at andy@gptaskforce.org or 503-221-2102 ext 103.
