The Task Force is happy to announce its second annual Celebration and Silent Auction.

In June Department of Ecology issued a Water Quality Certification to the Forest Service approving its action to remove Hemlock Dam on Trout Creek. Skamania County decided to appeal the decision fearing that it will remove opportunity for recreation. The Task Force has decided to pursue legal intervention in the case to ensure the removal of Hemlock Dam and to support the recovery and restoration of salmon and steelhead runs and free flowing rivers in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. On July 12, 2008 a lightning-sparked fire was reported just east of McDonald Ridge on Mount Adams Ranger District within the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The fire, dubbed the Cold Springs fire, reached a reported 100\% containment August 1st burning 7,729 acres of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and Yakama Nation reserve land. The fire was good for habitat creation and fuel reduction which is why we need to encourage the Forest Service to not post-fire log the burned areas.
