Policy

As part of our balanced approach to restoring the Cascade forests, The Task Force works with other organizations and coalitions to shape national legislation and Forest Service policies to protect and restore Northwest public lands.

We advocate for investment in restoration work on public lands, protection of ancient forests and roadless areas, mining law reform and the development of environmental laws that support our mission.

The Task Force was an important voice during the development of the Northwest Forest plan in the early 1990's and we continue our proud record of supporting environmentally responsible policy decisions today through several projects such as our Wild & Scenic Rivers Campaign and our pursuit of permanent protection for the lands surrounding Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument.

Dangerous environmental legislation is often drafted behind closed doors leaving conservation groups like us little time to react. To keep updated with the latest issues, make sure to check our bog and newsroom often.
