Dam Removal Projects
After 20 years of work by conservation organizations and their supporters (including the Gifford Pinchot Task Force), Yakama Indian Nation, and PacifiCorp, the 95-year old, 125-foot Condit Dam has been breached.
In 2009, after ten years of advocacy, the Task Force was excited to announce that Hemlock Dam has been removed. Amazingly, steelhead returned to the creek the day after water was returned to the stream channel. Restoration will continue at the site over the next few seasons.
